So, I was recently asked to speak at the Ohio State Bar Association and cover the topic of how to stay Healthy During A Crisis. We had a great organic conversation on the topic. Here is what we discussed.

1. IDENTIFY THE CRISIS
A crisis could be a health issue, losing a job, losing a loved one, overwhelm at work, overwhelm at home or anything that creates a negative experience in your life and impacts your “normal routine.”

2. LIST OUT HOW THE CRISIS NEGATIVELY IMPACTS YOUR HEALTH
Skipping meals, not sleeping, increased stress, not exercising etc. Address how the crisis is impacting your health. Get crystal clear on this one.

3. REVISIT YOUR WHY. (Why do you need to be healthy)
If you are anything like me, I have so many people depending on me to be my best, my wife, my daughters, my friends, my family, my clients, etc. We are all gonna go through rough times in our life. Keep front and center why you need to be healthy.

4. CREATE A WRITTEN PLAN
Document and Execute a written plan.
Ex. Cook your meals in bulk so that you have healthy leftover foods during crunch time.
Set an alarm clock to remind you to drink water.
If the crisis is an ongoing situation, like a reoccurring health issue, the create a crisis plan on paper and keep handy.

5. SCHEDULING TIME FOR YOURSELF.
During a crisis you need ALONE time so that you can think clearly.

6. SURROUND YOURSELF AROUND POSITIVE ENERGY, PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS
Be intentional about who you surround yourself with and who you listen to during a crisis time. During a crisis you are going to be hyper-sensitive to the energy in your environment and the people and conversations that you have.
This may be the time to considering hiring experts. I.e. Coaches, Consultants, Therapists, Etc.

Listen to my story and how I survived a major crisis in my life.
